Australia Post - Letters of a Nation

Thousands of letters documenting Australia’s history have been uncovered through Australia Post’s Letters of a Nation campaign.

Letters detailing first impressions of Australia from early settlers along with letters written from Australia’s immigration department assisting newly arrived immigrants are just some of the letters received so far relating to Australia’s rich multicultural and immigration history.

Launched in March 2009, Letters of a Nation calls on all Australians to share their most memorable letters to help celebrate 200 years of Australia’s postal service.

The Letters of a Nation project is calling on all Australians to rummage through their drawers, wardrobes and old shoe boxes and dig out the letters that tell the stories of their lives – and our country.

To enter simply visit www.auspost.com.au/200years or get an entry form from participating Australia Post outlets.

The Australian Multicultural Foundation is proud to be one of the partners in this project.
