They commonly use social media platforms to target vulnerable and often young people by telling them that they will be recognised in ways they never have been before and by providing them with a sense of belonging. One example of grooming is where a person shares their extremist ideology, trying to convince others to be like them. Sometimes, these 'recruiters' will try to encourage violence as a way of promoting their cause.
