After 36 years as the Founding Director of the Australian Multicultural Foundation (AMF), Dr Bulent (Hass) Dellal AO has retired as its Executive Director and has been appointed the Chair of the Australian Multicultural Foundation Board.

Reflecting on this milestone, Dr Dellal said it has been both an immense privilege and an honour to serve the Australian community over the past 36 years, and to work alongside so many inspirational and dedicated Australians committed to community service.

“I look forward to my new role as Chair of the Australian Multicultural Foundation and to working with my fellow Directors in shaping the Foundation’s new direction and strategic focus in three key areas. The first is the growth of the Australian Multicultural Foundation Research Trust under the leadership and directorship of its newly appointed Executive Director, Mr Hakan Akyol PSM. The second is the establishment of the Australian Multicultural Foundation Carla Zampatti Scholarship for young women, with its newly appointed Director, Ms Katrina Scaramella. The third is the wider expansion of Northern Community Support Group (NCSG) services under its Manager, Mr Remzi Unal. We will also continue to establish our annual Gobbo and Lee Dow lectures as a tribute to our founding Chair, Sir James Gobbo AO, and our longest serving Chair, Professor Kwong Lee Dow AO, as well as invest in future community capacity-building initiatives.”

The AMF is also pleased to have recently launched a comprehensive 36-year publication, which is available free (plus postage) from the AMF by contacting [email protected].
